ah Tien my response in your thread was I didn't think your ideal possible becuase it ran along the lines of entrapment and that is illegal. I personally have pondered several times on how they could fix something like that and haven't. The only suggestion that was made came from my brother and that is for GW itself to sell gold o_O Yeah I go "err defeating the purpose" in my mind to, so yeah.....

I was a bit put off that my slur towards Gaile was what made her respond.... She had a whole thread on it in the Dev Tracker forum -_- I think I would have been more pleased if she acknowledged the hard work and sympathy that Redly had put into his post. But alas I cannot tell them what to write.

lines of entrapment o wha? Im 18 and I have no idea what that means

You do know im going to get hate mail now and constant letters of 14 year old nerd shouting "noob Oh my gwod such a noob" I hope your happy! lol

But on the note of gaile responding well she *did* aplogise which is preety cool most companies would just tell you were to shove it.

I think what gaile should take on board though is that people don't want customised Event hats they want to share...it was quite strange how you could give someone a santa hat I mean christmas is all about sharing and getting along...Though when i did the dragon mission a few days before christmas nerds were yelling at each other during it quite funny

But just quickly going back to GW selling gold though people didn't like that idea there is no other way to tackle it or least that I can think of at the moment gimme a week or two and im sure i'll come up with anouther wacky idea to get those 14 year old geeks flaming

Tein ak, here is the basic deffinition of Entrapment as provided by wikipedia:

In jurisprudence, entrapment is a procedural defense by which a defendant may argue that they should not be held criminally liable for actions which broke the law, because they were induced (or entrapped) by the police to commit said acts. For the defense to be successful, the defendant must demonstrate that the police induced an otherwise unwilling person to commit a crime. However, when a person is predisposed to commit a crime, offering opportunities to commit the crime is not entrapment, such as in the widely held misconception that policemen must answer questions truthfully if they are asked the same question three times, or that they must say "yes" if asked if they are a police officer.

In Canada, which has a different definition of entrapment than the United States, there are two forms of entrapment.

Random virtue testing: police offering a random member of the public an opportunity to commit a crime. Police must have a reasonable suspicion of a person in order to provide someone opportunity to commit a crime.
If police have a reasonable suspicion they can only provide an opportunity, not convince or induce the person to commit the crime.
While Canada focuses on the actions of the police, American law focuses on the motivation of the accused. In the United States, entrapment exists if the accused's main motivation was the offer made by the police. If the accused was more motivated by other concerns, such as financial gain, then it is not entrapment despite police actions.

In a case like what you were suggesting that could easily be brought up making the whole thing backfire on them.

Anyways yeah uncustomized hats from special events would do it, but I saw several people willing to spend a butt load for one. I think a lot of people would take advantage of newer people.... And by the same tolken it's as if they don't try to scam them by selling them a customized one as well so yeah =/ I just figured they could set times and dates better - planning it for during the week or on a big holiday is never the best of ideas.

*shrugs*

Ya know... I think I am scared to find out what milias thought that post was about lol.... Hun it MIGHT help if ya try reading the rest of the thread and other readers posts.... Otherwise it's just going to keep hurting o_O

Although I am not sure that will help if ya didn't get it the first time through.

Having a guy say that on the internet sends off warning bells lol =P
I love taking our two oldest in the game store (5yr and 2yr) and they both know what games are what... The youngest of the two was the biggest surprise when we first took her to a gaming store..

"Oh look mommy is jak and daxer" (Jak and Daxter)

"I wan gobet of frier" (Goblet of Fire)

*insane giggles* "DADDY IS KINGUM ARTS!" "Kingdom Hearts"

We didn't know she was so smart or so game enthused!

We want to take our eldest to the Gen Con event this fall and well because he doesn't have the hair to pull off Kingdom Hearts's Sora, we ponder dressing him as a GW Monk.... Pregnant as I am I think I will pass on dressing in my 15k ranger armor ;_; But Redly is going monk as well I think (but he wants to do the tats..shhhh don't tell him but he really doesn't have the muscle for that >_>)

Anyways thanks for your interest in the letter... and... our kids... o_O?

hmm im not sure it would be a crime to have guild wars selling their own stuff be illegal as it wouldn't be classed as stealing as your buying their product off them I may of got it wrong but basicly it means The police telling you to commit a crime so they can screw you over, but like I said if they were selling their product surly that wouldn't be stealing?

First off I would like to say that the letter was well thought out, and has some very valid points. I for one am very disappointed in Factions. It seems to me like a total grind. After you complete the rather short story line there doesn't seem to be much else to do than to farm for faction seeing as there is very little PvE content. I feel that they are turning thir backs on us PvE people to cater to PvP all the way. And, how can an alliance control a town if they don't have a lot of time logged? That kind of blows the whole idea of "skill not time played" right out of the water.

Default Feedback to Anet on Factions

The letter was great. I have had Factions since the launch date and I wanted to give some feedback. I don't usually do this. When I am unhappy with a game I usually just stop playing. I am essentially a pve player. I have played GW for about 10 months and loved the first chapter and SF. I was anxiously awaiting Factions. But now that I've played it, I am very disappointed. I think the game appeals much more to pvp (and quite frankly faction farmers). If you like pvp, that's fine. I just don't happen to and I like to think we can all get along. But, if Anet isn't interested in pve players, so be it. While I play almost every day, I am not going to ever get enough faction to make much of a difference. And our guild is mid-sized I suppose and mostly pve players as well so even as a guild or alliance we won't collectively do it either. In our guild chat, it appears that many of us are unhappy. Unless the game gets balanced in some way or there is more pve content, I fear that many, including myself, will stop playing. I enjoyed the first chapter so much that I feel very let down. I wanted to give Anet feedback and sent them an email, which they answered by saying to post on one of the community's forums. So, this seemed an approprite place to post. I hope they listen

Best way to describe entrapment... is as Eviance did with a wikipedia. But if you need a more basic definition. Entrapment is when a person is forced into commiting a crime by the police or government. If you have ever seen Law and Order there was an episode where a LEGALLY released rapist was thought to have committed rape again. The police through means gave him a car and other necessities to tempt him to commit the crime(He did now know it was the police) ultimately his lawyer used entrapment in her defense.

And I would also like to state my anger at you categorizing people with a wider vocabulary then yours "nerds". I feel if you want to be insulting by calling someone a "nerd" then do not post. Maybe if you simply used Wikipedia or a dictionary instead of insulting a group of people who may one day aspire to things you can only dream of, you might be a little more knowledgeable. So please THINK before you POST. If you really are 18 please act your age.

So basically they should just stop improving all together because to you they have improved enough?
You are not the lone gamer supporting their company. And those of us that really care and want to see Anet succeed will pick them up and help them heal the wounds and make things better. We want to see things better for the company because if they succeed so do we. If people get fed up with the blunders and people stop buying, then they stop making games because they don't have the profit or enough faith from the people that they will make better ones and then no one gets to play.

Big RPGs make money by word of mouth usually. If someone likes their game they start fan clubs and websites - they tell all their buddies you MUST GET THIS! If we don't like something are we going to tell people to get it? If it can be better without the sh!t flung at them why not work to make it so? We aren't looking to fling sh!t we are looking to make things better for all involved because we saw something in GW:P that inspired us and caused us to see great things in Anet - we saw potential that was not fulfilled with Factions and thusly we want to see that when chapter 3 comes out there aren't the huge fiasco of blunders there was this time.

When you care for something you want to make it better. I am done being angry at the company, now I just want to see it restored to it's former glory and I can do that without flinging sh!t. Maybe some others can't, maybe all they want to do is whine, but that isn't all of us - contrary to your popular belief some of us do care.

Cador all he was saying was he didn't understand why people were shouting that he was newb, and his idea wasn't entrapment we talked on it further in PMs, it just read wrong - still not a very great idea. All he was saying is he doesn't understand why people cannot just be nice when declining his ideas. There is no need for people to shout or to yell that he is a newb just because he doesn't understand something. Tien ak may also be from another country or background so his age may just be irrelevant to this situation. People from different countries and cultures act different at different ages. Cut him some slack he was just asking for honest opinions not to be flamed.

I did not say that. I simply stated that we should calm down and quite simply if you have a problem with A-net that is fine, but you should be understanding that in a world where humans are well... humans you need a little patience and a little bit of understanding it helps.

I understand your need to point out A-Nets blunders, and i applaud you for that, it DOES strengthen the game and the community. However blunders are part of human nature. Do you mean to tell me you have NEVER made a mistake in your life? I could be wrong but i strongly doubt that. How many blunders has A-net made in prophecies? Hell lets make it Prophecies and Factions combined? I cna guarantee you that even if we added up all the blunders from those two games it would not even come close to rivaling Many bugs and errors in other games, and with A-net also unlike other companies they actually respond to us, and do in time fix the problem.

^^ I do agree with you in this however what i see mostly in this forum, and some examples in this thread is instant gratification, give A-net some time

I never said or at least could not see where i said everyone flings sh!t i just notice that many do, I know why you complain is because you care however, A-net IS human cut them some slack.

No there was no need to call anyone here a "nerd" just because his vocabulary is limited. I will not put up with derogatory comments made just because i may have a stronger vocabulary then him, maybe if he paid attention in class or read a little more he would understand. No need for name calling.

Dude I am a nerd and I am married to a nerd... Nerd to most people is just fact that is what most of us are.
Wikipedia: Nerd, as a stereotypical or archetypal designation, refers to somebody who pursues intellectual interests at the expense of skills that are useful in a social setting, such as communication, fashion, or physical fitness.

however Dictionary.com has your take on it: A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.

I dont mind being socially inept if I am smart... That doesn't bother me and I think most anyone who spends as much time posting on these boards and playing these games and such is at least some part nerd. I honestly don't think he meant it is a derogatory remark, and I honestly don't see that as flaming compared to some peoples responses.

Other than that the OP was trying to get the feelings of the people across without doing the whining, ranting, and bitching that others have been doing. His post was to let Anet know that we do care, that we are being patient where we can and so forth. It was not meant to be cruel towards Anet (if you want to see that you can look for my earlier posts in this thread).

Almost everyone is past their anger now and looking for ways to make things better. Most of us know that anet is human and being human it can communicate with us. And we can help them as they help us. That is all this amounts to... However I agree that the wsmcasey needs to be strung upside down from a tree and gutted =P

wsmcasey don't you make me get my BB gun out XD

I think he was just making fun of the fact that half the people who posts the things you did, didn't really read the OP and just assumed it was another rant or completely missed the point of the OP. Heck it happens, I have done it myself -_-

haha the best saying evar!: Can't we all just get along!

The thing is I read the whole letter, and to me although it was a structured rant it was still a rant. I could be wrong it is how I interpreted it.
